When Chris Hemsworth was offered to play the role of Thor: The Dark World, he was just finishing a diet where he had to drop 30 pounds in 4 months for the role in The Rush. So he had to go through a strenuous diet and look intimidating and get the Asgardian bulk. Many would say that it is not difficult to put on some weight, but in Hemsworth’s he had to put on only muscles. Therefore, to help his body get back to the muscular physique, Chris followed a protein-packed diet that gave him excellent results.

He had to eat large quantities of vegetables and brown rice, following a strict plan that meant eating every 3 hours. He also ate a lot of fruits to help the protein break and lots of broccoli. “Nutritionally, I had to be very efficient,” says the Australian actor. “I bulked up for about eight weeks and then slowly cut down for maybe a month or so. I had to be pretty strategic with food: Eat for value. When I was cutting I would sometimes replace brown rice with quinoa. They were my staples.”

Brunch:

  • turkey roll, cottage cheese, mixed nuts, yogurt

Lunch:

  • 1 cup of oatmeal, 1 banana, 1/2 cup sultana, fat-free milk, 4 egg whites and 1 egg, 50 grams of cheese, orange juice

Dinner:

  • 3 fillets of salmon, 100 g quinoa, 100 g asparagus, yogurt, 1 cup fat-free milk
