My name is Elina and I am currently pursuing my MA in I/O Psychology (Human Relations) in the NYC area. I cannot stress how difficult it has been for me to obtain an internship and I look back at PIOP and SIOP constantly and e-mail almost everyone I can. I e-mailed every possible internship site listed on SIOP only to find no one is looking, they do not take interns, or they are companies consisting of only one individual and have no need for interns. Can ANYONE supply me with information I may be lacking? I'm unsure if I am doing anything incorrectly or if this is just how the industry is at this time...although I should mention I have been looking for an internship since I've graduated undergrad in May of 2006..and still no luck. Any information at this point would be very much helpful. I appreciate all of your time in reading this and look forward some favorable responses,

Have you thought about creating your own internship at your school with the mentorship of your professors?  As a 'free' intern consultant, you can gain access to most departments within your university.  Try putting a proposal together and see how that flies...

Ok, I'm getting prwcriptive.  sorry.  I ran into the same situation, so I looked inside my school and did just what i am suggesting.  When I get past my Comps, I will be interning in the Ombuds office of my university.  I had to reach out and ask though.

you did mean human resources, not human relations, right? just making sure. see if any of your faculty might have some insight into local internships, or check with your placement office. also, you might just flip through the phone book and sell yourself to a company.
