What are your thoughts on Career Management?
« on: April 14, 2009, 11:20:29 AM »
Hi

Much of our adult life is about career management directly or indirectly. We educate ourselves for a career, spend days in job-hunting, network for career, and spend the larger part of our time at work.

What do you think affects career decisions of individual and also career progression in an organization?

1. What affects the career choice of a person?
2. Is it possible to get job-person fit in modern work organizations, keeping in mind the industry scenario? What makes you think so?
3. Can one really take up the career that one wishes to do?
4. Other than participating in job rotation, training, coaching and mentoring, what should an individual do for better career management?
5.How important is ‘boss management in one’s career progression?
6. In the modern world, what skills/ competencies (other than profession-specific ones) should a person have to be successful in career?
7.What would you consider to be landmark studies/ theories/models in the field of career management?

Looking forward to your thoughts...

Regard
